Arup Chandra, Principal CCAI (A short life sketch)

Arup Chandra – born in Berhampore, Murshidabad District in the year of 1951 5th Marc h, Father Late Anadi Kumar Chandra & Mother Anima Chandra, was the eldest son among fo ur children in the family started early education in ‘Bethuadahari’ – a small village in Nadia district of West Bengal. But very soon ‘Maternal Uncle’ Sri Ajitendu Das got him to his ‘Mama Bari’ – maternal uncle’s home at Berhampore and get him admitted in Kirshnath Collegiate School in fifth standard. Since Arup Chandra stayed in Berhampore under the care and love of Grandfather Sri Binoy Krishna Das and Grandmother Achala Das, and got his five maternal uncles as guides or friends.

Being an intelligent student always scored great in school exams, though he liked to keep special interest in games & sports, writing poems etc. In his words, ‘I have played almost every popular events in our time like Football, Cricket, Hockey, Table tennis, Volleyball, Boxing, Gymnastics, Yoga etc’. His favourite clubs ‘Vivekananda Club’, ‘Hind Club’ & ‘Ramkrishna Bayam Mandir’ are still active in Berhampore City. Same time he found a special interest in recitation of poems and other cultural activity. Since he was in 10th standard, he writes poems, which later gave him another identity among the modern Bengali poets. His first remarkable work in the field of literature was publishing a little magazine named ‘Diganto’; as an editor it was his first work. Later he published another little magazine named ‘Rakta Patra’ which boldly drawn the attention of conscious people towards the poverty and injustice of the state to the people; as a result administration announced the magazine ‘banned’ and seized all the copies of the same. It was 1970. At this time he was the student of 3rd year at Berhampore Krishnath College.
In 1967, like other numerous students he was boldly inspired by ‘Nakshalbari Movement’, which opened a new vista in his life. His remarkable creation in this period ‘Hirak Buke Sikal Baje’ – a collection of poetry & ‘Jharer Britte’ – a novel, both were the manifestation of the people’s struggle against poverty and state oppression.
After a long struggling life, which can be mentioned somewhere else; he took a profession of a trainer. 1stSeptember 1977 Mr Arup Chandra gives birth of his dream child ‘Chandra Commercial & Art Institute’, in Palashipara – a small village in Nadia District, W.B. He is the pioneer of ‘Spoken English Courses’ in Nadia - Murshidabad and other adjacent districts.
By the time Mr. Chandra again took special interest in various cultural activities. Writing poems was continuing well. He received a great honour at this moment; in 125th ‘Rabindra Birthday Celebration’, organised Department of Youth, Govt. of W.B., Mr Chandra own 1st position in Nadia District Poetry Competition.
Since 1980, he is the editor of ‘Basabhumi’, which first published as an organ of ‘Revolutionary writers association’s’ Nadia district committee. But latter, ‘Basabhumi’ is being published independently.
  • Academy of Music and Fine Arts, Barrackpore, Kolkata – a board for cultural promotion, offered him ‘Felicitation’ for his unparalleled contribution in ‘Recitation of poems’.  The board offered him an ‘Upadhi’ (an honorary title) called‘Shastri’ in honour.

He is also a successful journalist of ‘Murshidabad Beekhan’ (a Bengali fortnightly). He is also a member of‘Murshidabad District Journalists Association’ and ‘Murshidabad District Chambers of Commerce’.

As an educationist he has left a great thoughtful impression when he spreads the English Education in West Bengal at that time when government withdraws that from schools. He understood that, without a great proficiency in speaking and writing English, Bengali young generations would have embarked in a great darkness of frustration in life. He also spoke loudly about the importance of Computer Education, Finishing Training programmes, and Interview preparation etc. most of which nowadays are well accepted by the society.

Under his guidance and care, CCAI has reached the most honourable position in West Bengal. His research works in the field of Spoken English & Communicative English Training Method has opened a new vista to the Bengali youths. One after another, he launched different kind of courses to help the students to achieve the ultimate success in life. His students are now placed in both government and non-government jobs, many are ‘self employed’, and leading successful life with respect and honour.

He is regarded by all the CCAI teachers, staffs, students, guardians and people who are benefited by his selfless service to the society and nation.

To be a good speaker...

Very often I get this question from my students, that, how to be a good speaker!  Believe me its very easy.  Simply speak fearlessly.  My experience says its about 80% of students invest their 90% of time only to memorize notes which help them only to get good scores in damn exams.  Basically they are taught to take exam on their skills of memory not on their ability or talent or development in the field of education.  Swami Vivekananda said years before - "Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man." - but how many of us value these great words?

Whatever, Stop memorizing. This is my first suggestion.  To talk well its essential to know what to talk about -  first listen to your heart, and get the idea washed by your brain and then let it come out from you mouth like a stream, let it drop like a cascade; and only then day by day you will earn fluency, eloquence and all other qualities to be a good speaker; your dream to be a good speaker will come true.  Maximum students tear their hears off for grammar; its as peculiar as the worse mistake we ever commit in our life.  Grammar is not a language itself, rather its just like the notation in music; only helps people to speak in same tune.  Get the example of a 'baby'.  How does he or she learns a language? preferably thier mother tongue?  NO never by grammar, rather they learn the language first, by listening, thinking, speaking; environment make them educated, no grammar teacher.  They get graduate's degree in their mother tongue far before they learn grammar.  So care for communication, not the construction, not grammar.

In a nutshell, by swimming we learn swimming; same way, by speaking we can speak good...

So start talking...
